[ad_pod ]Bury FC have been expelled from the football league.Financial mismanagement of the club by Stewart Day and Steve Dale have seen the club hit their lowest point in their history, and there will be no football at Gigg Lane this season. For many Bury fans, the blame has been solely placed on Day and Dale. However, there is a small section of the fanbase who have taken aim at Gary Neville for his lack of action. The Manchester United legend grew up in Bury, and he’s received a lot of flak for not saving them from their demise. The former England international has hit back at his critics on Twitter.
The Sky Sports punditÂstated that his mum had been working day and night in order to try and help the Shakers, and he hit back at the fan for bringing his late father into the argument.
The 44-year-old’s dad was a key part in the campaign to save the club back in the early 2000s when they were in a similar position. His efforts were appreciated so much that a stand at Gigg Lane was named after him for the work he did as a director at the club.
Neville’s hands were tied when it came to saving Bury FC. He’s already heavily involved with Salford City, so he couldn’t really do much to help another club.
Emotions are clearly running high amongst the Shakers’ fanbase, but criticising the former Manchester United man isn’t the way to express their anger – especially when you consider all the work his dad did for the club.
