As reported by The Evening Standard, Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has spoken openly about his admiration of Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez, fuelling speculation the German giants could make a bid for him this summer.
What’s the word?
Sanchez’s future at the Emirates Stadium is in doubt due to the fact he still hasn’t signed a new contract at the club, with his current deal due to expire in just a year’s time. Fans are drawing the logical conclusion that this could mean the Gunners cash in on the Chilean this summer.
Given his goal threat he’d likely have many suitors and one club seemingly interested in him is Bayern Munich.
Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti was recently asked whether he could make a move for him this summer and his response was very interesting indeed.
As quoted by The Evening Standard, Ancelotti said:
If an opportunity comes up, the club will be ready. There are lots of rumours. Alexis is a great player but not the only one in the world. I like Alexis. There are possibilities in the transfer market, which can be in many directions. I believe that the market is currently somewhat crazy – and Bayern is not a crazy club. I know the culture of this club and will not ask for any players for whom the club has to spend crazy sums, but if there are occasions, why not?
It certainly won’t dampen reports from The Standard last month that said Bayern were ready to offer him a huge salary to lure him away from London.
Can Arsenal hold on to their talismanic hero this summer?
