The Argentine superstar's potential appearance at the Hong Kong Stadium filled out the stands with local fans hoping to watch the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner in action. However, due to an inflammation in his adductor, Messi did not come onto the field in response to which the fans booed Inter Miami off the field and also booed the great David Beckham, who is the co-owner of the Herons.

Despite the hostile crowd and the absence of Messi and Luis Suarez, Inter Miami managed to get their first win of their preseason as they beat Hong Kong XI 4-1 on the night. They lost their first two matches of the pre-season against Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr of the Saudi Pro League.
WHAT NEXT FOR INTER MIAMI?
The Herons will next be in action in Japan when they take on Vissel Kobe on Wednesday, February 7. It is still unknown if Messi will be fit enough to participate in the clash for the Major League Soccer side.
